Mumbai City downs Goa 2-1 in a keenly contested tie

Mumbai: Mumbai City scored a well-earned 2-1 win over FC Goa 2-1 in the ISL league tie played at Mumbai on Saturday. Everton and Thiago found the target for Mumbai City, while Manuel Jesus pulled one back for the visitor.

FC Goa captain Lakmikant Kattimani, under the bar, let his team down with a slip-up to concede the first goal against an aggressive Mumbai City FC.  He got beaten for the second time and the hosts celebrated a 2-1 win at home.

Everton brought the crowd to its feet, hovering around the visitor’s goalkeeper and the latter got into position for a long clearance, and charged towards the ball and as the FC Goa skipper swung his leg back and tried to block the ball which bounced in.

Six minutes later, FC Goa had a goal disallowed for half-side. Manuel Jesus brought the match back to life with the equaliser for the visitor out of the blue. Ferran Corominas threaded a pass down the middle to his team-mate to shoot home on the turn.

Mumbai City went ahead again through Thiago in the 88th minute to seal the victory. Arminder under the Mumbai City bar had a good game and effected two good saves for his team.
