Murder accused arrested within 24 hours

Mysore/Mysuru: An accused, who had stabbed and bludgeoned a man to death with a concrete block on Uma Talkies Road near Gandhi Square and had gone absconding, has been arrested by Lashkar Police within 24 hours of the crime.

The accused, who has been arrested is 23-year-old Samarth, a resident of Pandavapura town. On Nov. 11 early morning, he had killed Chennaja (42) of Yadathore village in T. Narasipur taluk and had gone absconding. Samarth was arrested near the Town Hall by Lashkar Police, who interrogated him and produced him before a Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody.

The accused and the victim were rag pickers and were moving together at Gandhi Square, Lashkar Mohalla and surrounding areas collecting rags and selling them for a living. They both had fought over a petty issue and when Chennaja was sleeping, Samarth not only stabbed him but also bludgeoned him with a concrete block and killed him before absconding.

Lashkar Inspector Santosh, Sub-Inspector Gowtham Gowda and staff, took part in the                            nabbing operation.
