Murder for beedi: Two arrested

Hunsur:  Hunsur Police, led by Inspector K.C. Poovaiah, has arrested two persons on charges of killing a person for refusing to give them beedi near Gowdikere bar near Hanagoodu on July 22.

While the victim has been identified as Mullaiah, a resident of Hemmige hamlet, the accused have been identified as Lakshmana alias Jogi and Papaiah alias Beete, also of the same hamlet.

On July 22 at about 6 pm, a fight ensued between the three near Gowdikere bar, resulting in Lakshmanna and Papaiah beating Mullaiah to death and throwing the body into a maize field near Gowdikere.

A case was registered at Hunsur Rural Police Station in this regard.

Following instruction from Mysuru District SP, Hunsur Dy.SP Bhaskar Rai formed a special team consisting of Hunsur Circle Inspector K.C. Poovaiah and staff Lingarajappa, Mahadevaswamy, Prasad, Mohan, Rajegowda and driver Nagesh.

The special team, acting on information, arrested the accused on July 24 morning, when they were waiting for a bus on Hunsur-Virajpet main road and produced them before a Court which has remanded them to judicial custody.
