Artiste K. Nagarathna shares her views at Swaralaya Samskrutika Vaibhava-2025
Mysuru: Swaralaya Sangeetha Samsthe at Ramakrishnanagar in city, had organised ‘Swaralaya Samskrutika Vaibhava-2025’ (Swaralaya Cultural Extravaganza 2025) at Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha in city recently. The event was sponsored by the Department of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, artiste K. Nagarathna said “Music is a divine art and it embraces only those who truly practice it. That’s why those who dedicate themselves to the art are referred to as ‘Sangeetha Saraswathi’ or ‘Sangeetha Sharade.’ When an institution like this completes 35 years, it shows how strong and well-rooted its foundation is.”
She highlighted that over last 35 years, Swaralaya has hosted numerous music programmes and nurtured many students. The District Rajyotsava Award bestowed upon Vidushi Suma Harinath signifies her dedication to the field of art.
Nagarathna emphasised that, talent and teaching methodology of Vidu. Suma Harinath, combined with the children’s inquisitiveness to learn music and the encouragement of parents, enables such cultural extravaganzas to take place.
“Many children learn music but give up midway. My advice to them is that practicing music alongside your studies will not only enhance your mental concentration but also undoubtedly relieve mental stress,” she said.
Music teacher Vidu. Rathna Soorappa was the chief guest and Chellam Lakshman, retired Headmistress of JSS Educational Institutions, was the special invitee.
Vidushi Suma Harinath, the founder President of Swaralaya presided. Dr. Prashanth Kanavi released a book on senior-level practical section authored by Vidu. Suma Harinath.
