Music and Dance programmes to mark JC Wadiyar’s Centenary celebrations

Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Sri Jayachamaraja (JC) Wadiyar’s Centenary Celebrations, a music concert and a dance programme has been organised respectively today and tomorrow by Sri Krishna Seva Samithi Charitable Trust and Sri Krishna Ganasabha at Alwar Kala Bhavan, Sri Krishna Temple Complex in Gokulam 3rd Stage here.

Sept. 12 (6.30 pm): Music concert (Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Compositions) by Vidu. Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar. She will be accompanied by Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy on violin and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on mridanga.

Sept. 13 (6.30 pm): Dance Programme by Vidu. Namratha S. Jois and Party.

Artistes’ profile

Vidu. Sukanya Prabhakar is a multifaceted artiste of different stature. Being a popular vocalist, she has nurtured a lot of students into the field of music. She has been conferred Doctorate by the University of Mysore for her thesis on the contribution of Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar.

Through Surabhi Ganakalamandira she has been imparting music to a lot of students. She has also directed Sangeetha Roopakas featuring the life and contribution of composers which has gained appreciation from connoisseurs. Surabhi Sinchana, a quarterly magazine, is dedicated for music and performing arts.

Vidu. Namratha S. Jois: Daughter of Sadhana Jois and Sathyanarayan Jois, Vidu. Namratha S. Jois has been learning bharatanatyam under the tutelage of Guru Dr. Vasundhara Doreswamy since the age of seven years. 

She has completed her Vidwat in bharatanatyam and has given more than 20 performances across the State. 

She has been learning Karnatak classical music since the age of 10 under the tutelage of Guru Ranjini Koushik and practiced veena under the guidance of Sumangali Upadhyaya. She has also started her own institution Jois Kala Prathishtana.
