Music brings out best in students’ skills: Dr. Mysore Manjunath

Internationally renowned violinist Dr. Mysore Manjunath, who released the Music Calendar of world renowned Indian musicians on the occasion of World Music Day celebrated at Government High School in Kuvempunagar in city on June 21, seen with BEO Shivakumar, Head Master Prakash, Music teacher M.V. Mysuru, June 23- “Any student who learns music is sure to have outstanding achievement in whatever he embarks on,” said internationally renowned violinist Dr. Mysore Manjunath at a function held at Government High School, Kuvempunagar, on the occasion of World Music Day, here on June 21.

He was speaking after launching the Music Calendar of legendary Indian musicians, prepared by students of Government High School, under the guidance of music teacher M.V. Anitha and said all over the world research has been done on music and it is made mandatory in school syllabus but in India we have yet to do it.

World Music Day is celebrated throughout the world in big cities but I am surprised to see that government school children are celebrating it in a meaningful way, said Dr. Manjunath.

He lauded the music teacher’s effort in bringing out extraordinary music talent among students.

BEO Shivakumar, who was the guest of honour, said “Music Day coincides with Yoga Day. Yoga heals the body while music heals the mind. Both are two sides of the same coin.”

Students played instrumental music on the occasion.

School Head Master Prakash, child pencil sketch artists M. Anmol Rathan Rao and S. Rakshit were present.
