Sri Krishna Gana Sabha has organised a music concert by Bellary M. Raghavendra on Sunday (May 19) at 6 pm at Alwar Kala Bhavan in Gokulam 3rd Stage. He will be accompanied by R.N. Thyagarajan on violin, H.L. Shivashankar Swamy on mridanga and M.R. Manjunath on ghata.

Profile: Bellary M. Raghavendra completed his Master’s in Music after graduating in Commerce. He has dedicated his entire career to the field of Karnatak Music. Apart from being an “A Grade” artiste of All India Radio in Karnatak Classical Music, he also has the distinction of being an “A Grade” artiste in Devotional & Light Classical forms of Music. His vibrant and dexterous voice, coupled with clarity in pronunciation has enabled him excel in Classical, Devotional and Light music alike.

 He joined the All India Radio as a Programme Executive, and has served in this administrative capacity across multiple locations in Karnataka. He recently retired as the Assistant Station Director of All India Radio.

Raghavendra is also proficient in Morching and Konnakkol.

He grew up in a musical environment which was very inspiring and energising for any youngster with an innate talent in this art-form. He obtained his initial training in Music from his father Bellary M.Venkatesh Achar, who along with his brother Bellary M. Seshagiri Achar formed the renowned “Bellary Brothers” duo. He was also taught and mentored by his uncle Bellary M.Seshagiri Achar. The composing capability of Bellary M. Seshagiri Achar – a composer of great repute, the energetic voice of Bellary M.Venkatesh Achar, and the concert planning & presentation of Bellary Brothers – has had a profound influence on M. Raghavendra.

He has also learnt Hindustani Vocal from Guru Chandrashekar Puranik Matt. Raghavendra’s music is a confluence of soulful renditions, lyrical clarity and rhythmic perfection, thanks to his rich musical lineage.

He has performed across India and abroad in many prestigious concert platforms and festivals. He has given many Lecture Demonstrations in classical music. His communication skills coupled with his knowledge of music has made him a great teacher.

Raghavendra has trained many learners in Vocal Music, and he also teaches students abroad over internet.
