Mysuru: Sri Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha Charitable Trust, Mysuru, has organised a Karnatak classical vocal concert by Vid. Ramani Shankar, a sought-after young artiste, at Jayanagar Sri Rama Mandira on June 27 at 6 pm.
He will be accompanied by Vidu. K. Mahathee on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. S. Manjunath on ghata.
Profile: Hailing from a traditional music family, Ramani Shankar was trained in Karnatak classical music by his mother Vidu. Swarna Shankar and father Sangeetha Kalaratna S. Shankar, the well-known senior vocalist of Karnataka.
An ‘A’ graded artiste of AIR and DD, Ramani Shankar has performed in many prestigious Sabhas across the State. With a rich repertoire of the compositions of the Trinity, Post Trinity composers, he also has a repertoire of contemporary composers and has recorded many documentary and CDs containing the works of DVG, Sadashiva Brahmendra, Mayuram Vishwanatha Shastry, Padmacharan, Y.K. Srikantaiah etc., with his father. Ramani Shankar is a HR professional with a Master’s degree in HR.
