Music concert captivates connoisseurs at BVB, Mysuru

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidwan Siddhartha Belmannu presented a Hindustani Classical music concert, casting a spell on music connoisseurs along with his rendition of devotional songs, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) auditorium in Vijayanagar in the city on Saturday.

The concert organised on third Saturday of every month, was 129th in the series, and was organised jointly by BVB, Bengaluru and Mysuru centres and Infosys Foundation.

Vid. Siddhartha, who presented the concert in Anandi Kalyan Raga for half-an-hour, later switched over to devotional songs, infusing life to the compositions of Kamalesha Vittaldas and Purandara Das. Kamalesha Vittaldas’- Karedare Barabaarade Guruve…Varamantralaya Puramandira Tava Charana Sevakaru Karava Mugidu, Purandaradasa’s- Nanena Madideno Rangaiah Ranga NI Enna Kaayabeku… Deena Rakshaka Tirupati Venkataramana… and ‘Chinnikolu Chendu Buguri… Adalu Hogona Baaro Ranga Koodi Yamuna Theeradalli…’ were sung by Vid. Siddhartha, casting a spell of devotion among the music lovers.

Famous Marathi saint Eknath composed ‘Majhe Mahera Pandhari  Aahe Bheevrechya Theeri Pandharpur…’ hailing Lord Vittala, was also rendered at the concert.

Vid. Siddhartha was accompanied by Roopak Kallurkar on Tabla, Bharat Hegde on Harmonium and Meghana Bhat on Thamboori.

Earlier, BVB Mysuru Centre Hon. Secretary P.S. Ganapathy inaugurated the programme. BVB Mysuru Centre Hon. Treasurer Prof. A.T. Bhashyam, Executive Committee Members Dr. Tulasi Ramachandra, T.S. Gangadhar, Dr.J.V. Gayatri and K. Krishne Gowda, Administrative Officer S.R. Ravikumar, BVB School Principal S. Lekha Nair were present.
