Mysuru: Members of ‘Svaraalaya Institute of Music’ in city are organising a music programme at the residence of Mysore Vasudevacharya, tomorrow (Mar. 29), as part of Ramanavami celebrations.
The programme will comprise of vocal concerts by Vidu. Suma Harinath, a senior vocalist and by her students. The vocalists will be accompanied by Vid. C. Chetan on violin and Vid. V. Shyamu on mridanga. The programme, starting at 10.30 am, is open to all.

Having learnt under a number of teachers, including Vid. K.J. Venkatachar, Vidu. Suma is actively involved in popularising Karnatak music for over three decades now. As the head of the Svaraalaya Institute and as a tutor at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, she has trained hundreds of enthusiastic youth, many of whom continue to serve the cause of music overseas too. She has been honoured with many awards, including the ‘Karnataka Kalashree’ given by Karnataka Sangeeta Nritya Academy.
Vid. Chetan, a disciple of Vid. Amba Prasad and Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy and Vid. Shyamu, a disciple of Vid. P.G. Lakshminarayana and Vid. S. Kumaraswamy, are both graded artistes of Akashvani and Dooradarshan, having significant stage experience.
