Music Varsity shifted back to old building in Lakshmipuram

Mysuru: It was just about one-and-a-half months ago that the administration and classes of Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University was shifted to the building of Muktagangothri (KSOU) near Mandakalli. However, it has again been shifted back to the old school building in Lakshmipuram.

Following the students’ protest that the old building in Lakshmipuram lacked basic facilities, Higher Education Minister G.T. Devegowda had directed the Music University to shift to Muktagangothri building near Mandakalli on Sept.9 and it was shifted on Oct.15. But after the end of the academic year, it has been moved back to Lakshmipuram. Exams will be held here itself, said sources in the Music Varsity.

The students have alleged that the in-charge VC Prof. Rajesh has failed to provide basic facilities, musical instruments, equipment and drinking water even in the new place. Added to this, he has once again moved back the administration and classes to its old place, they charged.

It was shifted on Dec.1. The classes for the academic year have ended. However, the administration has come forward to hold practical classes and exams in the old building. In spite of all these exercises, nothing has changed and they are not seeing any improvement in the University administration, alleged the upset students.
