Mysore/Mysuru: Regretting that social values in the society are fast diminishing, KSGH Music and Performing Arts University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote bemoaned that professionals in Medical, Engineering, Commerce and other such fields are after money.
He was speaking after inaugurating a training workshop on Theatre art and Folklore forms, organised by Gauthama Educational and Cultural Service Trust, in association with Bengaluru’s Kannada and Culture Department at Kirurangamandira in Kalamandira premises here recently.
Maintaining that both the State and Union Governments are sanctioning grants for promotion of folklore and related art forms, Prof. Nagesh said that at the same time, it is important to know how to use this grants in a judicious and efficient manner.
Noting that folklore provides ample opportunities for the youths, he said that the youths must utilise these opportunities in the most beneficial manner.
Observing that there is ample scope for Post-Graduate degree holders in Theatre and Folklore, he called upon the youths to take part in this workshop in good numbers. He also complimented Gauthama Trust for organising such workshops for the past eight years.
University of Mysore Evening College Kannada faculty Dr. K. Sowbhagyavathi, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) faculty Prof. Nanjaiah Honganur, Trust President Krishnamurthy and others were present.
