Muslim brethren offering mass prayer at Idgah Maidan at Tilak Nagar in city this morning. Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazrath Moulana Mohamed Usman Shariff is seen leading the prayers.

Mysuru: Over 20,000 Muslim brethren offered mass prayers at the Tilak Nagar Idgah Maidan on the occasion of Bakrid or Eid-al-Azha celebrations in city this morning.

The mass prayers were led by Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazrath Moulana Mohamed Usman Shariff who remembered the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim Khaleelullah and his son Ismail Zabiullah who agreed to be sacrificed. He called upon people to come together in maintaining peace and harmony and also advised them not to take law into their hands.

Speaking on the occasion, MUDA Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh announced that MUDA will install an iron fence around the Idgah Maidan at Tilak Nagar at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. He said that the foundation stone will be laid on Sept. 11. Similar prayers were held at Idgah Maidans at Shanthinagar, Bharath Nagar, Ghousianagar and other mosques.

Dr. Javed Nayeem, JD(S) National General Secretary Zafrullah Khan, District Wakf Board Advisory Committee Chairman Arif Mohammed Mehkri, Corporator Suhail Baig, Senior Journalist Afsar Pasha, Congress leader Shoukath Ali Khan and others were present.
