Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, in collaboration with Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore (UoM) and Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Life Sciences, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, are organising National Conference on Nutrition “MY NUTRICON -2022” on Dec.8 and 9 at Sri Rajendra auditorium of JSS Medical College in Bannimantap.
The theme of the conference is “Public health aspects of nutrition towards sustainable development goals.” MY NUTRICON – 2022 offers a forum for the experts in the field of food, diet and nutrition to showcase their ideas, innovations, experiences and research to the world. The conference will bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars in the domain of nutrition across the country. Young researchers and experts can share their research findings through oral and poster presentations.
A total of 450 delegates have registered from various parts of India. There will be 20 speakers from reputed institutes.
Pre-conference workshops on food safety and adulteration and nutritional assessment was held today (Dec.7) in JSS Medical College and UoM campuses.
The inaugural ceremony of the Conference will be held on Dec.8 at 11.30 am. Dr. K.V. Rajendra, Deputy Commissioner, will be the chief guest. Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa, Principal, JSS Medical College, will be the guest of honour. Dr. Surinder Singh, VC, JSS AHER will preside.
There will be a series of scientific deliberations on nutritional issues across life stages, culture and nutrition, advances in nutritional research, food safety and security, building public health workforce and resilient communities etc.
Distinguished scientists in the areas of public health, nutrition, dietetics and food sciences, Dr. P. Raghavendra, Scientist C, ICMR – National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad; Dr. Murali Mohan Reddy, Co-founder & CEO, coGuide; Dr. Sheetal Gupta, Deputy Director, FSSAI; Dr. S. Kowsalya, Registrar, Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore; Dr. B. P. Mahesh, Principal, Sounarya College of Law, Bengaluru; Dr. D.R. Sunil Kumar from Akash Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr. A. Jyothi Lakshmi, Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru; Dr. Jamuna Prakash, former Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, UoM, will deliver the sessions.
More than 120 young researchers and scientists will be presenting their research work through oral and poster presentations in the conference.
Apart from scientific events, literary competitions like — Just a minute, essay competition, POSHAN GYAAN: Educative poster designing in relation to nutrition, fruit and vegetable carving, food exhibition by anganwadi teachers will be conducted during the conference.
The poster on nutrition and food exhibition will be open for general public on Dec.9 between 12 noon and 4 pm. Valedictory will be held on Dec. 9 at 4 pm at Sri Rajendra auditorium.
