Mysore/Mysuru: Department of Studies in Library and Information Science in association with Mysore University Information and Library Science Alumni Network (MILAN) will be organising a two-day MyDLIS Diamond Jubilee Summit on the topic ‘Transforming Information Ecosystem: Ensuring Secure, Ethical and Inclusive Knowledge for the Future’ on May 29 and 30 at Vijnana Bhavan Auditorium, Manasagangothri.
Addressing the mediapersons at Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, Department of Studies in Library and Information Science Chairman Prof. N.S. Harinarayana said that a walkathon has been organised at Manasagangothri campus on May 29 at 10.15 am to mark the occasion.
“Historian and writer Dr. Vikram Sampath will inaugurate the summit at 3.30 pm at Vijnana Bhavan. University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath will preside. Technical sessions, special lectures and workshops will be held from 9.30 am on May 30 following which valedictory will be held at 3.30 pm,” he said.
Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay (Kalyani University) will conduct a hands-on workshop on ‘Data Carpentry’; Prof. S. Sadagopan (former Director, IIITB) will deliver a lecture on the ‘Core Concepts of Information Ecosystems’; Dr. Sanjay Bharthur (MAHE Manipal) will talk on ‘From Information Disorder to Digital Power’; Naavi Vijayshankar (Chairman-FDPPI) will conduct a session ‘Impact of Cyber Law & Data Protection Law on Academic Institutions’ and Prof. Anil B. Suraj (IIM Bengaluru) will deliver a special talk on ‘Ethical Use of Information in Research & Education.’
This will be followed by Kannada panel discussion on ‘Unnatha Shikshana mathu Vruthi: Savalugalu haagu Sadhyathegalu (Higher Education and Careers: Challenges and Possibilities) moderated by Dr. M.V. Sunil, Faculty-General Management & Systems, SDM-IMD. Prof. D.S. Guru will deliver the valedictory address.
Prof. N. Nagaraja, Registrar (Evaluation), Mysore University, will preside.
