Mysooru Mithra columnist Dr. M.R. Ravi’s article included in BBA syllabus

Mysuru: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. M.R. Ravi’s article that was published in his column in Mysooru Mithra, the sister concern of Star of Mysore, has been included as a chapter of Kannada text book for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course in Mangalore University.

The article, ‘Yellaru Doctor, Engineer Aadare Bere Vruthigala Paadenu?’ (roughly translated to English as “If everyone becomes Doctor or Engineer, what about other Professions?) has been extracted from   ‘Badukona Baara,’ Ravi’s collection of articles.

The article has been included in ‘Baanaadi,’ a collection of articles for the students of second semester of first year BBA.

Ravi’s article speaks about the parental pressure on children to pursue only certain courses like Medical and Engineering and tells parents not to force their children to opt for the courses that do not interest them. Instead, parents must recognise their children’s potential and allow them to choose the profession of their choice.

Giving examples of achievers like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, Kailash Sathyarthi, C.N.R. Rao, R.K. Narayan, Mother Teresa, M.F. Hussain and others, Ravi has written that they followed their passion and could be a role model for the society.

As the CEO of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, Ravi was instrumental in implementing the Paschima Vahini Project of building thousands of vented dams.
