Mysuru: The Mysore Bar Association greeted new Principal District and Sessions Court Judge B. Jayanth Kumar, who assumed office at a programme organised in the Association premises in District Law Courts Complex here recently.
Judge Jayanth Kumar replaces Justice Usharani, who was appointed as an Additional Judge of Karnataka High Court over a fortnight ago.
Speaking on the occasion, Judge Jayanth Kumar said that senior advocates must be respected and junior judges must be encouraged and doing so will help in the smooth conduct of legal proceedings. Sharing his experience while functioning at Tumakuru, he cited the example of a cinema in successful organisation of programmes and in developing team spirit.
Stating that he was happy to get an opportunity for serving in Mysuru, Jayant Kumar wished that Goddess Chamundeshwari bring goodness to everyone.
The amended bylaw of Mysore Bar Association was released and the Death Fund newly created by the Association was launched. ‘Law Guide’ monthly magazine editor H.N. Venkatesh has personally donated Rs. 25,000 for the Death Fund, which was handed over by Judge Jayanth Kumar to the Bar Association on the occasion.
Mysore Bar Association President S. Lokesh, Secretary Sudhir, Vice-President Chandrashekar, Joint Secretary Charan Raj, Advocate Vinoda Bharat, Karnataka Bar Council member Mahadev Prasad and others were present.
