Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomes new labour codes

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has welcomed the four new labour codes notified by the Central Government with effect from Nov. 21, 2025.

In a press release, MCCI President K.B. Lingaraju said the Managing Committee members have welcomed the new labour codes aimed at reforming the labour laws.

The MCCI said the labour codes were designed to simplify, streamline and modernise the existing labour law framework and augurs well for both workers and employers. “These reforms will benefit both employers and employees by promoting ease of doing business, enhancing worker welfare and creating a more transparent and efficient labour ecosystem,” he said.

The MCCI said the labour codes have consolidated disparate laws into a single, user-friendly framework and were in line with the government’s commitment to improving the business environment, ensuring better compliance and protecting the rights and interests of workers.

It said mandatory wage payment before the 7th of every month, free annual health check‑up for all workers above 40 years of age, women permitted to work at night in all types of work, increase in daily working hours from 8 to 12 hours, gratuity to employees who complete one year of service, ensuring minimum wages to all workers and a social security system based on employee strength, are welcome initiatives which will boost new investments. It will also benefit the existing establishments, the MCCI added.

Lingaraju has urged the State government to ensure smooth implementation by offering capacity‑building support and conducting awareness drives for industry owners and workers.
