Mysore Open Forum to host talk on ‘Is the Constitution in crisis?’

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum has organised a talk on ‘Is the Constitution in crisis?’ by Dr. Aditya Sondhi, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1 st Phase, Mysuru, on June 15 at 10.30 am.

Dr. Aditya Sondhi is a Senior Advocate and practises in the High Court of Karnataka and the Supreme Court of India. He has served as Additional Advocate General of Karnataka from April 2016 to April 2018 and has been appointed Amicus Curiae in several matters of public

importance. He graduated from National Law School where he is a Visiting Faculty. He has taught Constitutional Law, Arbitration and Professional Ethics as also a credit course on ‘Courts and National Security.’ He holds a Ph.D from the University of Mysore.

He has contributed a chapter on Elections to the ‘The Oxford Handbook of the Indian Constitution.’ He was designated ‘Senior’ when he was 38 years old. He has been a TEDx speaker and has lectured widely across the country and abroad. He has published two books of non-fiction with Penguin (India).

His lecture will examine existential threats to the Constitution from majoritarian polity, institutional apathy and societal disengagement. It will draw on the speaker’s experience as a lawyer and scholar tracing the role of the courts and civil society in bringing Constitutional ethos to the fore so as to preserve its spirit in these polarised times.
