Mysuru: K.N. Suresh Kumar, Chairman of Mysore Race Club (MRC) Limited, has resigned his office.
This follows the MRC Managing Committees’ decision to move a no confidence motion against him for allegedly favouring Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Golf Club (JWGC) to construct golf huts in violation of the law.
Sources said, out of the 10 members in the Managing Committee, six of them had signed the no confidence motion. However, Suresh Kumar tendered his resignation as the Chairman before the motion could be tabled in the meeting.
Suresh Kumar, in his letter to MRC members, has tried to clarify about his stand with respect to construction of golf huts and has added that he was giving regular updates about the measures taken by him to stop the construction of golf huts at JWGC as the MRC Chairman.
“The Mysuru City Coproration (MCC) has been apprised about the PWD approval of the revised plan for the construction of golf huts in violation of existing laws. MCC has also been requested to demolish illegal construction that has been built violating the original plan and also to initiate action against officials responsible for the construction,” he said.
Following Suresh Kumar’s resignation, one of the stewards G. Venkatesh was appointed interim Chairman of MRC.
