Mysuru: Mysore Sharana Mandali had organised a function at Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Bhavan in JSS Hospital premises here on Wednesday as part of Basava Jayanti and conferred ‘Basava Ratna’ awards on achievers.
Presiding over the function, former MLA Vatal Nagaraj asked people to introspect whether they were following the principles of Basavanna. He announced that a ‘Basava Ratha’ would be launched next month to traverse the entire State to spread the messages of Basavanna.
The Mandali conferred ‘Basava Ratna’ awards on Dr. K.S. Sadanand, Cardiologist, Jayadeva Hospital, Mysuru, Dr. H.B. Rajashekar, Head, Rajashekar Foundation Hospital, T.S. Chayapathi, Publisher, Thalukina Venkannaiah Smaraka Granthamale, H.K. Ramu, President, State Government Employees Association and G.S. Mamatadevi, KAS officer. The awards were conferred by Kendra Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Manu Baligar.
Former MLA Vasu, Mathematics Professor of UoM D.S. Guru, Mandali President Mugur Nanjundaswamy, Convenor M. Chandrashekar, Vice-President M.K. Nagendraswamy and Secretary Mahadevaswamy were present.
