Mysore University Law students stage protest, demand hostel facility

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore University Law students led by Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest on Tuesday demanding hostel facility.

The Law students who assembled near University Crawford Hall alleged that they (male students) have not been provided with hostel facility even though the College has started about a month ago. “Though we were given admissions in Village Hostel, we were asked to vacate saying repair works needs to be carried out there. But no alternative arrangements were made for us,” they complained.

“No hostel facility has been provided to us though we gave a memorandum about a month ago. We had brought this to the notice of the Vice-Chancellor and he had assured us that hostel facilities will be provided from Oct.17 along with food. But nothing is done yet. Because of this, now 35 Law students are facing hardships in finding suitable boarding and lodging,” they added.

“We have withdrawn our protest following an assurance from the VC that food and hostel arrangements will be given from tomorrow itself. But if he fails to provide them, we will start an indefinite protest from Thursday,” said District Convenor Vijayakumar.
