Mysore Varsity hikes pay of Guest Faculty

Mysore/Mysuru: In some good news for Guest Faculty, the University of Mysore (UoM) has decided to hike their pay with effect from October this year. The decision to revise the wages of Guest Faculty was taken at the University Syndicate meeting held at Crawford Hall on Tuesday and comes in the wake of UGC guidelines on wage payment. The meeting was chaired by UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar.

As per the revision, Guest Faculty will get a maximum monthly pay of Rs. 50,000, with an hourly pay of Rs. 1,500. Besides the wages for Invited Faculty too has been revised and accordingly the pay for those with a teaching workload of 4 hours, has been hiked to Rs.800 per hour from the current Rs.700.

According to the revision, the faculty with a workload of 4 hours will get Rs. 12,000 (previously Rs. 11,200), those with a workload of 8 hours – Rs. 24,000 (previously Rs. 22,400) and those with a workload of 12 hours – Rs. 37,000 (previously Rs. 33,600). The revised wages will come into effect from Oct. this year. The revision is going to benefit 861 Guest Faculty serving in Colleges coming under the University, who have NET/SLET/Ph.D qualification.
