Mysore Varsity Inter-collegiate competitions begin

The three-day University of Mysore Inter-collegiate Wrestling, Gymnastics, Best-physique competitions organised by Department of Physical Education began at the University Gymnasium Hall here yesterday.

Sports persons from around 65 colleges affiliated to University of Mysore are taking part in the meet. Dr. D. Bharathi, Registrar, University of Mysore, inaugurated the competitions.

Before the commencement of the competitions the yoga artistes who represented the Mysore gave a demonstration. H. Kushi, a yoga artiste of International repute and 9th standard student, was honoured by the organisers on the occasion.

In the best-physique competition, D. Deepak Kumar of Basudeva Somani FGC won the gold in the +90kg category. Santosh Nayak of SBRR Mahajana College won the gold in the 85kg class, while Amruth Nitree of Basudeva Somani FGC won the gold in the 75kg class. Puneeth Kumar of Basudeva Somani FGC won the gold in the 70kgs category. Raju of Maharaja’s college won the gold in the 65kg category. Harisha of Basudeva Somani FGC won the gold in the 60kgs category. All the winners qualified for the title round to be held on Saturday evening.
