Mysore/Mysuru: Adding another feather to its cap, University of Mysore (UoM) has been ranked 38th in the Education World Ranking list-2020.
The University has been ranked considering factors such as academic progress, research and innovation, teaching standards, curriculum, development of teaching and non-teaching staff, maintenance of international standards, infrastructure, administration etc.
UoM scored 884 points out of 1,300 to bag the 38th position, while Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science is ranked first in the country with 183 points.
Reacting to UoM getting good ranking, Registrar Prof. R. Shivappa said that the ranking will help in attracting more foreign students. UoM will strive for getting a higher ranking next year, he added.
Meanwhile, University of Mysore is one among the 38 Universities across the country which have been permitted by the University Grant Commission (UGC) for conduct of online courses on a full scale, it is learnt.
These Universities are permitted to run online courses on the subjects that come under their jurisdiction, without seeking prior permission from the UGC. In Karnataka, Kuvempu University, Bengaluru’s Jain Deemed University and Mangaluru’s Yenepoya deemed University have also been permitted to start online courses.
