Mysore Varsity to provide free higher education to students who lost parents to COVID

Mysore/Mysuru: The Syndicate Meeting of University of Mysore (UoM) has decided to reserve 5 seats in Under Graduate Colleges and Post Graduate Centres in its jurisdiction for those students whose parents have succumbed to Coronavirus.

The meeting, held under the Chairmanship of Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, UoM, here yesterday, expressed its concern over the increased cases of positive cases and deaths especially in second wave of Corona. The deaths have occurred more in Mysuru and surrounding districts. 

In the wake of this, the meeting has decided to provide free education to those students by reserving five seats each in Maharaja’s College, Yuvaraja’s College, University Evening College and Fine Arts College. Besides, three seats will be reserved in PG Centres of Manasagangothri in Mysuru, Sir M. Visvesvaraya PG Centre in Mandya, Hemagangothri in Hassan and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar PG Centre in Chamarajanagar. Admission will be given as per eligibility.
