Mysore/Mysuru: An accused in a murder case, who was on the run without attending Court proceedings since five years, was finally nabbed by the Police on Sunday.
The arrested is 35-year-old Madhusudan alias Madhu, a MBA graduate and a resident of Krishnamurthypuram in Mysuru.
Madhu, who had come to Bengaluru, met his friend at a mall, where they took a selfie. Madhu had then posted the selfie photo on his Facebook page, which helped Adugodi Police nab him.
The accused, who was working as an Assistant Manager at a private bank, later started a trading company along with his friend Sriranga Abhishek and had suffered a loss about Rs. 1 crore.
Meanwhile, their eyes fell on an online advertisement from senior citizens Uday Raj Singh and Susheela couple of Lakkasandra in Bengaluru, who wanted to sell their diamond necklace. Madhu and Sriranga, along with five others, hatched a plot to rob the elderly couple.
On Mar. 25, 2014, all the seven persons, went to the house of the elderly couple as prospective buyers and while negotiating the price of the diamond necklace, they murdered Uday Raj Singh and had decamped with the diamond necklace.
Adugodi Police, who had registered a case, arrested all the seven accused. However, on May 6, 2017, Madhu secured bail and walked out of the prison. He then left to Patna and then moved to Pune, where he did odd jobs. Madhu had hid his real identity and was using fake names there. As Madhu was not appearing before the Court since then, arrest warrant was issued many times but Madhu was not found by the Police. The remaining six accused are serving life sentence.
Madhu, who had come to Bengaluru recently, met one of his friends at a mall near Peenya, where he had clicked a selfie photo and posted the same on his Facebook page. Adugodi Police, who investigated, arrested Madhu on Sunday and produced him before a Magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody. Madhu is now cooling his heels at Parappana Agrahara Jail.
During interrogation, the accused is said to have told the Police that he had visited Mysuru six days back and had met his relatives and friends before going back to Pune. He also revealed that he had told his friends that he would come back permanently to Mysuru in four to five years time.
