Mysuru Jail gets Dental Clinic

Mysore/Mysuru: The newly constructed Dental Clinic for the inmates of Mysuru Jail was inaugurated at a programme organised by JSS Dental College and Mysuru Central Prison on Apr. 14, marking Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanthi.

Rotary Mysore West has provided donation for the construction of the Dental Clinic.

The inmates of the prison with dental issues were earlier being treated at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) that was set up inside the Prison. However, a new Dental Clinic is now set up with all necessary equipment. Doctors from JSS Dental College will visit the Prison every week on Thursday and will screen patients from 11 am. Those inmates with serious dental issues will be taken to JSS Dental Hospital for further treatment with necessary security.

Speaking after inaugurating the clinic, Rotary West President Rtn. Ullas Pandit said that the clinic is exclusively for the prisoners’ dental health. “Inmates must make use of the clinic whenever in need and make sure that their dental health is maintained,” he added.

Mysore Central Prison Chief Jail Superintendent K.C. Divyashree, who presided over the event, said that the inmates must make use of the clinic and look after their health.

“It is a great occasion that the Dental Clinic is being inaugurated on Dr. Ambedkar Jayanthi day. Dr. Ambedkar has made immense contribution to the country. All the prisoners must transform into good human beings and always be a rightful citizen for the society after they get released from the prison,” she added.

Assistant Jail Superintendent Vijay S. Rodkar, Rotary Mysore West Community Service Director Dr. Sonia Mandappa, JSS Dental College Vice-Principal Dr. B.R. Chandrashekar and others were present on the occasion.
