Mysuru part of pilot project of Athletic Federation of India

In order to ensure that more youth and children take part in the track and field activities at the grass-root level, the Athletic Federation of India (AFI) has decided to monitor the activities at the district-level and provide financial assistance to conduct athletic activities in the select districts.

The AFI could activate only 500 districts out of more than 700 districts existing in the country. AFI has prepared a list of 130 districts in various States and Union territories which will be part of the pilot project.

The Mysore District Athletic Association, which takes care of the Mysuru district athletic activities, stands first in Karnataka State as per the AFI listing.

It is followed by Udupi, Shivamogga, Mangaluru, Dharwad, Bengaluru Rural and Bengaluru Urban.

AFI will be providing financial assistance to conduct the district level activities to the listed districts after it is approved by the AFI Committee.
