Till July 5, 8 pm: 179 active cases; 252 discharged in Mysuru
Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru reported one COVID-19 death in the last 24 hours taking the total deaths to five. The victim was suffering from Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI). The victim is a 46-year-old and a resident of Agrahara. He was being treated at SARI Ward of the designated COVID-19 Hospital.
Yesterday on the day of the first Sunday Curfew, the Heritage city recorded 25 COVID positive cases. With this, the total number of cases increased to 436, with 179 active cases.
The active cases include two pregnant women, who are being treated at the designated COVID Maternity Hospital in Jayalakshmipuram, six patients who have been isolated at private hospitals, and six healthcare workers who have been isolated at homes.
Yesterday, 12 patients were discharged and in all, 252 of them have been discharged. Out of 25, one is a pregnant woman, two are SARI and four Influenza-like illness cases. Six cases have inter-district travel history and 12 cases are primary and secondary contacts of those who were infected earlier.
The Health Department authorities have so far observed a total of 13,551 persons and tested samples of 23,266. Of them, 22,830 persons tested negative. While 2,605 are under home quarantine, 52 persons are in facility quarantine. 10,715 persons have completed 14-days isolation.
Following emergence of new infections, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar has declared new containment zones. They are:
• First Cross, J.C. Nagar
• First Cross, Soppinakeri, Near Mission Hospital, Mandi Mohalla
• Near KSRTC Layout, Nadanahalli
• Devamma Temple Varuna
• Bharathavaadi, Hunsur Taluk
• Near Parasayyanahundi, Srirampura, Mookambikenagar
• First Main, Near Sericulture Office, Lakshmipuram
• 8th Cross, Vinaya Marga Siddhartha Layout
• 5th Main, T.K. Layout
Meanwhile, Kodagu district reported first COVID-19 death yesterday. The 58-year-old resident of Kushalnagar was rushed to district COVID Hospital on Saturday evening from a private hospital. He died within 30 minutes of admission. He was suffering from diabetes and hypertension for the last ten years.
