Mysore/Mysuru: Akash Aradhya from Mysuru, who took part in the Short track Ice Skating – South East Asian Trophy event held in Singapore on Apr. 1 and 2, has secured a gold medal in the 500m Race and a bronze medal in the 2000m Mixed Relay Race.
It is a competition where all the South Asian countries come and compete in this event. Countries like India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines took part in it. Even skaters from New Zealand took part as invited country. A total of 150 Skaters took part in various age groups among male and female categories.
Akash had been training in Canada and France from 2016 to 2021 in the hope of taking part in the 2022 Winter Olympics and was the only Indian who took part in the Olympic Qualification World Cups held in China, Japan, Hungary and The Netherlands. He is also the National Record Holder in all the 3 distances (500m, 1000m and 1500m).
He is the son of Nagabushan Aradhya (Chartered Accountant) and Rekha Aradhya, residents of Chamarajapuram.
