Two Mysuru tennis players — Prajwal Dev (Rank – 10) and G. Manish (Rank – 25) — have shone at the 36th National Games held at Ahmedabad in Gujarat recently as Karnataka Tennis team bagged the highest medals.
With 7 events, Karnataka players bagged 8 medals (1 Gold, 3 Silver and 4 Bronze) and this has been a spectacular performance. Karnataka team players won a medal in every Tennis event and this is the best performance by Karnataka in Tennis discipline at National Games till date.
1. Gold Medal: Men’s Doubles by Prajwal Dev/ Adil Kalyanpur.
2. Silver Medals: Sharmada Balu (Women’s Singles), Mixed Doubles (Sharmada Balu & Prajwal Dev) and Women’s Doubles (Sharmada Balu & Soha Sadiq).
3. Bronze: Women’s Team (Sharmada, Soha Sadiq, Vanshita Pathania, Vidula Amar and Reshma Maruri), Men’s team (Prajwal Dev, Adil Kalyanpur, G. Manish, Rishi Reddy and Rashien Samuel) events; Prajwal Dev and G. Manish in Men’s Individual Singles.
It was unfortunate for Sharmada as she twisted her ankle during Women’s Singles finals and had to concede the match and also the Mixed Doubles Finals.
