Mysuru to be developed under ‘PRAGATI 50’

MCCI President Dr. K.B. Lingaraju appeals for swift action to implement Central Government’s Scheme in city

Mysuru: Dr. K.B. Lingaraju, President, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), has welcomed the selection of Bengaluru and Mysuru cities from Karnataka for Central Government’s ‘PRAGATI 50’ initiative, which aims to develop 50 selected cities across the country into clean, sustainable and model cities.
Dr. Lingaraju stated that Mysuru holds a unique position nationally and internationally in tourism, education, IT-BT, industry and cultural sectors. Under such circumstances, selecting Mysuru under ‘PRAGATI 50’ will provide new opportunities for the development of the city’s infrastructure and civic amenities.
The scheme aims to implement comprehensive development measures in various sectors, including waste management, sewage systems, water recycling, expansion of green spaces, cleanliness and urban beautification.
“Getting this scheme for a historic and tourist city like Mysuru is a significant opportunity. The implementation of the scheme should not be delayed and the necessary Central grants and technical assistance must be provided promptly. A clear action plan must be formulated for the works undertaken under the scheme and executed within a time-bound manner,” he urged.
He noted that if Local Bodies, the State Government and the Central Government work in mutual coordination regarding Mysuru’s urban development, the objectives of the scheme can be achieved effectively.
The MCCI President has urged the Central Government, State Government and Mysuru City Corporation to take prompt measures to implement the ‘PRAGATI 50’ scheme in order to develop Mysuru into a clean, green, sustainable and international-standard city.
Dr. Lingaraju has also expressed his gratitude to the Central Government for selecting Bengaluru and Mysuru cities for the ‘PRAGATI 50’ Scheme.
