Nanjangud: A 36-year-old woman was killed on-the-spot when a tractor ran over her near Mallanamoole in the taluk on Monday.

The deceased is Gowramma, wife of Swamy and a resident of Sathagalli in Mysuru.

Gowramma, along with her sister, was proceeding to Srikanteshwara Temple on her Honda Activa scooter, when a speeding tractor rammed into the scooter from behind near Mallanamoole.

Due to the impact, Gowramma fell from the scooter and the tractor ran over her head killing her on the spot. Though Gowramma was wearing a helmet, it could not take the pressure of the tractor wheels. Her sister Shobha, who was riding pillion, escaped with minor injuries.

Following the accident, the tractor driver fled from the spot. Following a complaint from Gowramma’s husband Swamy, Nanjangud Traffic Sub-Inspector Yasmin Taj, visited the spot and has seized the tractor.
