Mysuru women master athletes win 19 medals

B.C. Parvathi shines winning four gold medals in 70+ age category

Mysuru: Mysuru women master athletes won a total of 19 medals in the recently held 3rd National Women Masters Athletics Championship at Goa.

In the 40+ age group, G. Punitha won gold in 4×100 mtr relay and bronze medals in  high jump and 4×400 mts relay and Jayalakshmi Kollipara won bronze medal in 4×100 mts relay in the same age category. K.G. Sharmila won the bronze medal in the 40+ age group hammer throw.

K.A. Bhagirathi, taking part in the various competition held in 55+ age category, won gold in 100 mts and 200 mts sprint, silver in 400 mts run and silver in 4×100 mts relay. In the 70+ category, B.C. Parvathi won four gold medals in 800 mts and 1,500 mts run, 3K walk and 4×400 mts relay. Meanwhile, Vijaya Ramesh won silver in long jump and Manjamma won bronze medals in 100 mts sprint and Shot Put.

In the 75+ age category, H.M. Bharathi won gold in shot put and silver medals in discus throw and hammer throw.

The medal-winning master athletes were felicitated by Mysore District Masters Athletic Association President Sumana Narasimhamurthy in city recently. Secretary B. Basavaraju, Treasurer K.N. Somashekar, Executive Committee Members Somashekar, Rani B. Raj, Mahadevaiah, M. Yogendra, M.S. Mahesh, Parvathi Kantharaju, M.P. Chandrashekar, N. Vinayak, Basavaraju, Bala Ramegowda, Ravi, Sujatha and others were present.
