Mysuru yoga champ Kushi meets PM Modi

Mysuru: H. Kushi, International yoga exponent from city, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Dec.31 at New Delhi and submitted a representation requesting to consider yoga as a sports discipline and to place in a priority category and also extend the facilities at par with other sports. She was accompanied by MP Pratap Simha who invited the Prime Minister to participate in 2019 International Yoga Day in Mysuru.

A 10th std. student of St. Joseph’s Central School in Vijayanagar, Kushi is practicing yoga at Vivekananda Yoga and Research Institute under the guidance of Dr. P.N. Ganesh Kumar.

She has participated in many State and National-level Yogasana Competitions and has represented the country in five International level Yogasana Competitions held at China, Vietnam, Singapore, Argentina and India. She has won seven Gold Medals, four Silver Medals and two Bronze Medals in different events.

For her outstanding performance, promotion and propagation in the field of Yoga, she got Karnataka Kalashree, Best Exceptional Award and District Youth Award from different Departments of Government of Karnataka and also many awards like Yoga Praveene, Yoga Kesari, Yoga Rathna, Sadana Rathna and Mysore Rathna from different institutions. She is also a Brand Ambassador for Swachha Bharat Abhiyan, Mysuru.

She is the daughter of H. Kumuda and S. Hemachandra, an employee at Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Ltd., Mysuru.
