N. Rachaiah Study Chair set up in University of Mysore

 Former Minister H. Anjaneya is seen offering floral tributes to a portrait of late N. Rachaiah, a former Minister, during the inauguration of N. Rachaiah Study Chair in University of Mysore yesterday.

Mysuru: Former Minister H. Anjaneya inaugurated N. Rachaiah Study Chair in University of Mysore (UoM) at a programme organised at Humanities Auditorium in Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjaneya  said that late Rachaiah, a former Minister, is credited with setting up many hostels for economically backward sections of the society.

Maintaining that B. Basavalingappa and N. Rachaiah were tall Dalit leaders of the State who worked for oppressed and marginalised sections of the society, he said that the Study Chair was sanctioned by the previous Congress Government headed by Siddharamaiah.

Pointing out that the people still  remember the contributions made by N. Rachaiah for Dalit and other deprived sections of the society, Anjaneya said that former CM Siddharamaiah had set aside funds for the Study Chair in his Budget presented before the Assembly polls.

Explaining the purpose of setting up the Chair, he called upon the people to learn about the achievements of N. Rachaiah.

Kuvempu Institute of Kannanda Studies (KIKS) faculty Dr. N.K. Lolakshi delivered the keynote address, while Prof. H.M. Rajashekar of the Study Chair delivered a special lecture.

MLC R. Dharmasena, son of former Minister late Rachaiah, Department of Studies in Political Science  Chairman Dr. Krishna Hombal, faculty Prof. G.T. Ramachandrappa, Dr. D. Thimmaiah of Dasti Educational Institutions  and others were present during the occasion.
