Mysore/Mysuru: The birth centenary celebrations of noted Theatre Director N.S. Vaman will be held at Kiru Rangamandira in Kalamandira premises at 10.30 am on Jan. 2.
Announcing this at a press meet here yesterday, Abhiruchi Balaga’s Founder-President N.V. Ramesh said that the programme is organised under the joint aegis of Karnataka Nataka Academy, Chaitra Foundation, Abhiruchi Balaga and Asakti Prakashana.
Pointing out that Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal will inaugurate the event, he said that littérateur Usha Narasimhan, journalist Amshi Prasannakumar, Karnataka Library Book Selection Committee Member N. Girigowda and Karnataka Nataka Academy Chairman R. Bhimasena will participate. Writer Dr. Kabbinale Vasanth Bharadwaj will release books, Ramesh said.
Continuing, he said that a photo expo on Vaman has also been organised to mark the occasion. Actress Indrasudha will release a documentary titled ‘Trivikramana Vamana’ that features the achievements of Vaman. N.S. Vaman Centenary Book Awards too will be conferred and a seminar on the contributions of Vaman to the theatre will be held in which artiste Hariprasad, Dr. Leela Prakash, writer Dr. K. Krishnamurthy and B.K. Sumathi will speak, he added.
