‘Nadabrahma’ and ‘Nadakishori’ Awards presented

Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha’s 67th anniversary

Mysore/Mysuru: Marking the 67th Anniversary, Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha, Mysuru, had organised a programme to confer ‘Nadabrahma’ and ‘Nadakishori’ Awards on music achievers and Prof. Dr. A.K. Gopalarajan Memorial Annual Music concert at K. Vasudevacharya Bhavan on JLB Road in city on Sunday.

‘Nadabrahma’ Award was presented to Vid. S. Shankar and ‘Nadakishori’ to Vidu. Ashwini Kolikkaje. Speaking after receiving the honour, Vid. Shankar said that he will dedicate his award to all the music-lovers.

“The culture and heritage of Mysuru has survived only because of the continuous support from the people of Mysuru. Back in Maharaja’s era, art and culture used to get great prominence. Mysuru has received a name tag of ‘Cultural and Heritage City’ which has got recognition at international level,” he added. 

Later, Vid. Shankar presented a Karnatak Classical Vocal Concert. He was accompanied by Vid. R. Achyut Rao on violin, Vid. H.L. Shivashankaraswamy on mridanga and Vid. M.R. Manjunath on ghata.

The music concert is organised annually by the students and admirers of Dr. A.K. Gopalrajan, a renowned  Surgeon who was a professor of Surgery at Mysore Medical College in 1950s and 60s.
