Mysore/Mysuru: Former faculty, Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, University of Mysore, Dr. Preeti Shubhachandra said activist Dr. Rati Rao took part in a lot of struggles for the upliftment of women and rendering justice to women victims.
She was speaking at the International Women’s Day celebration and ‘Nade Nudiya Haadi’ book release programme organised jointly by Karnataka Mahila Dourjanya Virodhi Okkoota and Aparajithe Prakashana at Sriranga in Rangayana premises here recently.
Pointing out that a situation where women have to beg for their rights and facilities should not come, Dr. Preeti said it is the responsibility of the administrative system to provide women their rights and facilities. “The book has many inspirational narratives on women having broken the family walls to take part in social struggles. The book has been divided into two parts regarding the struggles and writings of Activist Dr. Rati Rao and her aides. The book also finds an answer on how women can engage themselves in life struggles”, she said.
Observing that the book has recorded and documented the struggles of women in Karnataka, she said that the book lucidly explains how Dr. Rati Rao took part in the struggles against officialdom for the cause of the oppressed and exploited women in the society.
Prof. R. Indira in her address, said that Dr. Rati Rao always explained with patience while answering questions on the mysteries of Science.
Senior theatre personality Rameshwari Varma presided. Samata Vedike’s Meera Nayak, Akhila Bharata Pragatipara Mahila Sanghatane President Dr. E. Rati Rao, Aparajithe Prakashana’s Meena Mysore, Sabiha Bhumigowda, N. Divakar and others were present.
