Nagara Samrudhi Mela concludes on Mar. 8

Mysuru/Mysore: A state-of-the-art exhibition and sale of products manufactured by women’s self-help groups (SHGs) under the DAY-NULM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission) is being held till Mar. 8 at the JSS Mysore Urban Haat on Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial area. 

The State-level Nagara Samrudhi Mela-2020, which began on Feb. 28, is open from 10 am to 9 pm every day. 

The  aim of the expo is to create a market platform and network for women SHG products. 

It has a collection of materials created by women’s self-help groups under the National Urban Livelihoods Campaign- the Deena Dayal Antyodaya  Yojana, which has been awarded by the Central Government under the Department of Skills Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood of the Government of Karnataka. 

Such events help strengthen the self-help groups and the fibre power economically. There are about 50 stores with attractive handicrafts, handloom textiles, handloom silk and cotton sarees, handloom wraps, miscellaneous metal, lace embroidery, ready-made, leather and toys, copper utensils, pearls and cardamom necklaces, women’s vanity bags, jute bags, shoes, lace saris, attractive decorative items, etc. on display. In addition to the finished products, there is also an opportunity  for the visitors to view the progress of these products’ preparation.
