Mysuru: With the State Government naming the erstwhile Hyderabad-Karnataka region as Kalyana Karnataka and Mumbai-Karnataka region as Kittur Karnataka, BJP MLC Raghu R. Kautilya has urged the State Government to name Old Mysuru region either as Nalwadi Karnataka or Nalwadi Mysuru region as a mark of honour for the erstwhile Mysore Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar.
Addressing a press meet at the BJP Office in Chamarajapuram here this morning, Raghu Kautilya said that the State Government should make the announcement naming Old Mysuru region as Nalwadi Karnataka on the day of Dasara inauguration in Mysuru on Oct. 11.
Urging the Government to ensure proper maintenance of Law and Order during Dasara, the MLC said, with just two days to go for inauguration, there is no clarity on security arrangements for the 11-day Nada Habba.
Suggesting the installation of watch towers at key points to keep track of criminals who creep into the city during Dasara and to constantly keep a tab on criminal activities, he also urged for formation of Vigilance Squads to check quality of food at hotels, eateries and other vends. He requested the hotels, lodges, resorts, home stays and restaurants not to hike prices during Dasara season.
Scrap Palace Board
“The Government should scrap the Palace Board and replace it with the establishment of ‘Mysore Palace and Other Heritage Buildings Maintenance and Safety Authority’. The existing Palace structure must be properly maintained and conserved”, he said and demanded to introduce a cap on the number of visitors to Palace every day to maintain the elegance of the Palace.
Lashing out at the Congress for its ‘Vote Chori’ campaign, Raghu said it was a ploy by them to safeguard its fake voters.
On sting operation
Commenting on the sting operation row, he said that the Congress itself must be engaged in carrying out sting operations. Stating that the Congress had become a ‘Sting Operation Factory’, he asserted that Congressmen were afraid because they were busily engaged in corruption, shady deals and contracts.
BJP Spokespersons Mahesh Raje Urs and Dayanand Patel were present at the press meet.
