Nandini milk prices hiked by Rs. 8 per litre

Revised prices to come into effect from Nov. 1

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday decided to hike the price of Nandini milk by Rs. 8 per litre from Nov. 1, the single largest hike till date.

With the hike, a litre of Nandini toned milk (blue sachet), which is currently priced at Rs. 46, will cost Rs. 54 from Sunday (Nov.1).The price hike of Rs.8 per litre is also applicable to all other milk sachets sold in several distinct varieties, often recognised by their colour-code.

Announcing this at the post-Cabinet press conference in the State capital yesterday, Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said “Farmers had sought an increase of Rs. 10. But the cabinet felt that was not possible and decided to increase milk prices by Rs. 8 per litre. Of this, Rs. 7 will go to the farmers and Re. 1 to Milk Federations.”

He also pointed out that farmers, who were currently getting Rs. 35 per litre and an additional Rs. 5 from the State Government as incentive, would now get Rs. 42 per litre plus Rs. 5 encouragement incentive. The last milk price hike was on Apr. 1, 2025 (Rs. 4 per litre). Meanwhile, Hotels and Bakeries are likely to face pressure to revise prices of milk-based products.
