Nanjangud bandh over disrespect to Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait 

Nanjangud: Accusing Raichur Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Mallikarjunagowda of removing Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s portrait during Republic Day celebration, thus showing disrespect to the Father of the Constitution, the Federation of Dalit organisations, farmer and other organisations, observed Nanjangud bandh today.

Urging for sacking of the Judge, they took out a protest march in the town.

Following the bandh, all shops, private schools and colleges and hotels downed the shutters, while Banks, Government Offices, KSRTC and private buses functioned as normal.

Hundreds of protestors, who assembled near the Ganapathi Temple, took out a protest march on R.P. Road, garlanded the statue of Dr. Ambedkar and continued the march to reach Hullahalli Circle where they staged a protest. They later blocked the Highway.

Federation President Suresh, Raitha Sangha District President Vidyasagar, Nagarle Vijayakumar, Narayan, Trinetra, Nanjundaswamy, Bangarswamy and others took part in the protest condemning the incident and seeking action.
