Nanjangud boy’s death at K.R. Hospital to be probed

Mysuru: The Secretary of the Department of Medical Education has reportedly written to the Dean and Director of Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) to conduct a probe into the death of a boy, who after undergoing an ear surgery, slipped into coma and died later.

The deceased boy is Abhi (14), of Kadabur in Nanjangud taluk. He was admitted to K.R. Hospital for an ear ailment on Nov.20 and underwent an operation the following day (Nov.21).

It is learnt that oral instructions have been given to find out the reason for the boy’s death and action be taken on concerned doctors if they are at fault. A probe committee consisting of doctors other than K.R. Hospital doctors be appointed.

Meanwhile, Devaraja Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have seized the injection vial and test dose medicines administered and given to the boy besides seizing medical equipment.

A Police officer has also been appointed to conduct investigation.
