Nanjangud CMC to penalise public for improper waste disposal

Nanjangud:  The Nanjangud City Municipal Council (CMC) has decided to penalise members of the public, institutions, bodies for unscientific and inappropriate disposal of wastes. Accordingly,residential houses, apartments and complexes will be fined Rs. 50; general and kirana shop owners Rs. 200; bars, restaurants, hotels, Kalyana Mantaps, bakeries Rs. 300; under-construction building and demolished building owners Rs. 500 and meat sellers Rs. 500, for unscientific, haphazard and inappropriate disposal of wastes.

Also, the CMC will fine Rs. 100 for improper segregation of waste at source and Rs. 100 for public urination/open defecation/public spitting.

The CMC will file cases in the Court, in cases where there are more than three violations, according to a release.
