Nanjangud Srikanteshwara Temple shut for a month

Nanjangud: The famed Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud has been shut for a month, starting from Apr.16  due to the surge in COVID-19 pandemic.

The historic temple comes under the ambit of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The centuries old temple is one among the over 3,600 centrally protected monuments and 50 museums across the country. Following an order from the ASI, the temple will be shut for devotees from Apr.16 till May 15.

In Mysuru district, apart from Nanjangud’s Srikanteshwara Temple, visitors and devotees will be restricted at Lakshmikanthaswamy Temple in H.D. Kote taluk, Keerthi Narayana and Vaidyanatheshwara Temple in Talakadu,  Keshava Temple at Somanathapura in T. Narasipur taluk and Sidilu Mallikarjunaswamy Temple in Periyapatna taluk .

However, the routine pujas and rituals will continue as usual only in the presence of priests and staff.
