Nanjangud temple demolition: Tahsildar transferred

Mysore/Mysuru: Nanjangud Tahsildar Mohankumari, who was in the centre of controversy over the razing of Huchhagani Mahadevamma Temple in Nanjangud taluk early this month, has been transferred by the Government. The transfer comes days after the Huchhagani Temple razing issue snowballed into a huge row, with the Opposition parties and Ruling party members alike  targeting the Government.

The Government, in an order passed on Monday, transferred Mohankumari as the Competent Authority in the IMA Scam case at Bengaluru.

Following Mohankumari’s transfer, the Government is said to have directed the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner to appoint an in-charge for the post of Nanjangud Tahsildar.

It may be mentioned here that Mohankumari had become the target of political leaders and Hindu organisations for the razing down of Huchhagani Temple and had visited Suttur Mutt in Mysuru when former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa visited the Mutt on Sept. 17.

After huge controversy broke out, subsequent to the razing down of the centuries old temple in Nanjangud earlier this month, Mohankumari had submitted a report to the Government on the issue, it is learnt.
