Nartana Namana at Ganabharathi tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi, in association with Raasavrunda, has organised ‘Nartana Namana’,  a Bharatanatyam dance recital at 6.30 pm tomorrow (Feb. 26) at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar. 

Choreographers Vidu. Shubha Balasubramanyam, along with her disciples Aditi Balasubramanya and Mrudula Ravi,  Vidu. Aparna Shashank, along with her disciples Vanshika Rathi, Prarthana Mohan, Suma Jayasimha and Chitra Kattepura and Vidu. Radhika Iyengar, along with her disciples D. Pooja, S. Lasya and Samhita Avadhanam will present the recitals.    

Artistes’ Profiles 

Vidushi Shubha Balasubramanya, Director at Aadhya Art Foundation, Bengaluru, was trained under the guidance of Vidu. Nandini Eswer of Raasavrunda. Shubha has conceptualised Katha – Loka, monthly story-telling session, a vision of  enriching children in stories based on Puranas, Mahabharata and Ramayana. She is working as a visiting faculty in various Schools to introduce Indian classical dance to young children. She has also been working as an Examiner for the Bharathanatyam  Exam conducted by Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB). 

Vidushi Aparna Shashank is the disciple of Vidu. Nandini Eswer and Founder-Director of Sambhrama, Bengaluru. An M.Phil in Cultural Studies from Jain University, Bengaluru and M.Sc in Botany from the University of Mysore, Aparna is working as Chief Microbiologist in the Quality Control Department, in a packaged drinking water factory and has previously worked in National Public School, Bengaluru, as a Dance teacher. She is a graded Doordarshan artiste and a recipient of “Singar Mani” Award from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. Aparna is also an Examiner for the Bharathanatyam Exam conducted by KSEEB.

Vidushi Radhika Iyengar, another disciple of Vidu. Nandini Eswer, is the Artistic Director of Naada Narthana School of Music and Dance, Bengaluru.  A Post-graduate in Bharatanatyam from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, she is also a graded artiste of Doordarshan, Bengaluru. Radhika is the recipient of “Singar Mani,” “Baala Natya Mayuri” from Kala Vikasa Parishat, Gadag and ‘Minugu Taare” from ETV Kannada. She too is an Examiner for the Bharathanatyam Exam KSEEB.
