Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) had organised a meeting at the Old Council Hall here this morning to brief the Press on the ‘National Cleanliness Survey’ to commence on Jan.4 next to adjudge the cleanest city in the country and also to seek suggestions from the scribes in that context.
The meeting was chaired by Mayor M.J. Ravi Kumar.
Speaking on the Survey, MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that the competition would be very tough this time as over 4,000 cities are vying for the numero uno status. He opined that the role of scribes in the mission was vital to create awareness among people on cleanliness and sanitation.
Elaborating further on the mode of surveillance by the Survey team, Jagadeesha said that 1,400 points would be awarded for good segregation, collection, transportation and processing of solid waste, along with sanitation with bonus points included for information, education and communication. He asked the Nodal Officers to submit the reports to assess each component of surveillance. He added that the Survey Committee would focus on Slums, Colonies, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Hotels and places with more people.
Jagadeesha further said that another 1,400 points would be earmarked for feedback from residents about civic amenities. He observed that participants of residents too was vital in the Assessment Survey and hence, sought the co-operation of the Press persons in that context.
The scribes who attended the meeting offered a few suggestions and assured to co-operate in the Survey process preparations.
MDJA President C.K. Mahendra, Secretary K.J. Lokesh Babu, former MLC D. Madegowda, MCC Health Officers Dr. Nagaraj and Dr. Ramachandra and other officials attended the meeting.
